MEET IJEOMA OKWUCHI - BAKER, AUTHOR, FOUNDER OF GATEAUX D'IJE BAKERY
I have loved baking for as long as I can remember.
When I was younger, I experimented quite a bit with my own cake recipes, from classic fruit cakes to pineapple flavored cakes, much to the delight and anticipation of my siblings and parents. After I got married, I opened shop right in my home kitchen in Nigeria, and made quite a name for myself in the little town of Aba with my recipes. From Disney princess-shaped birthday cakes to 13-tier wedding cakes, I enjoyed pushing the boundaries of cake design while satisfying my loyal customers.

So much has happened in my life since my days in Nigeria and more than a decade later, I have finally reopened my home bakery in my home in Houston, Texas!
Gateaux d'Ije Bakery represents my one true passion- baking. I love baking cakes of all kinds, and the more challenging the recipe, the more determined I am to prove my skills. Here at Gateaux d'Ije, we offer our customers the chance to fully customize their cake orders- from flavor to filling to frosting.
